Welcome

Dr. Oliashirazi
Chairman,
Residency Director

Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine is pleased to announce the inaugural year of our Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program.

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery has developed an extremely strong, well-balanced program. The first year includes three months of orthopaedics and three months of related rotations, including neurosurgery, radiology, and rheumatology. Two months of basic science, with only minimum clinical responsibilities, are included for cadaveric dissections, core lectures, and research to provide a firm, early foundation for subsequent years of success. Each resident will rotate through every orthopaedic subspecialty for three months as a junior resident and subsequently three months as a senior resident.

PG-I candidates must apply through ERAS and participate in the NRMP. Applications should include an ERAS application, personal statement, three letters of recommendation, current chairman's letter, transcript, MSPE letter, and USMLE board scores.
